JULY 7 HANDOUT:  “The Power of the Blood” …Hebrews 9:11-22

TEXT:  Hebrews 9:11-15 The Blood of Christ: But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. 13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! 15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a “New Covenant”, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

It is The Blood of Jesus Christ Alone that Saves! Hebrews 9:12 “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

In the New Testament there are 290 references to the love of God.   But In these same chapters and the same verses there are more than 1,300 references to the atonement, 1300 assurances that salvation can be had through the shed blood of Christ.

Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His Grace.”

Colossians 1:19-20 says, “For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,{Christ} 20 and through Him {Christ} to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making Peace through His Blood, Shed on the Cross”.

POINT:  The Shed Blood of Christ, “When Applied”, Brings Peace!

PEACE…There are 3 Kinds of Peace that Come from the Shed Blood of Christ on the Cross…But each Must Be Applied to KNOW GOD’s PEACE!

PEACE with GOD:  Since Genesis 3 Man has been at War with God…When Mankind Chose to Violate God’s Command and Sin…He was separated from God until a Perfect Sacrifice could Pay the Price and Satisfy God’s Requirement…

The PEACE of GOD:  The Greatest Thing that God the Holy Spirit Produces in You when You come to Christ…is to have a Peace You’ve Never Known…A Peace that You can Experience even in the Midst of Tremendous Pressure and Problems!

PEACE Between NATIONS:  Wars Never Cease…At times in our past there have been as many as 40 Wars going on ALL at the Same time!   And Until Christ returns and sets up His Millennial Kingdom there will be NO Real Peace…That’s another Sermon for another day.

PEACE with God, Others and Within Only Comes when You Apply the Shed Blood of Christ!

First, Let’s take a closer look at Peace “WITH” God.   Romans 5: 1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”.

The greatest warfare going on in the world today is between mankind and God.  The Bible says that all have “sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever [that “whosoever” is you] believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Total Trust and Commitment…We bring Everything to the Cross where Jesus Christ died for our sins.

  • He made Peace with God by His death on the Cross…If We turn Our Backs on Him, and don’t Commit our Lives to Him…We will have No Hope in the Future.

For Us to have Peace with God…Cost God the blood of His Son…Jesus!  And If You were the only person in all the world, Jesus would have died for You.

The second peace spoken of in the Bible is the Peace “OF” God.

Everyone who knows the Lord Jesus Christ can go through any problem, and face death, and still have the peace of God in their heart.

When your spouse leaves or dies, or your children get sick, or you lose your job, you can have a peace that you don’t understand.  You may have tears at a graveside, but you can have an “Abiding Peace”.

In Philippians 4:6-7 Paul said, “Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.

Personal Application…Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of God rule in YOUR hearts.”

QUESTION:  Do YOU have PEACE “WITH” GOD?   If You believe that You know Jesus Christ as your Savior, but You haven’t really made Him your Lord. If God is Not Lord of All (your life)…He’s Not Lord at All!   Therefore You’re missing the Peace with God and the War Rages inside.

This Morning You Can have the PEACE “OF” GOD!   In the midst of struggles, turmoil’s, trials and pressures of life…You do Not have to Be Anxious…You Can Choose to Place it under the Blood and TRUST that GOD WILL Do What He Promises.

Romans 8:28 tells us that God will use Everything You Go Through For Your Good…IF…You Will Run to him…Trust Him…and Place every issue Under the Blood!

Whatever the circumstances, whatever the call, whatever the duty, whatever the price, whatever the sacrifice — His strength will be your strength in your hour of need.
