JOSHUA 3   PREPARING FOR A MIRACLE:

I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES…I ALSO BELIEVE THAT GOD WANTS TO DO MIRACLES IN EVERY CHRISTIANS LIFE SO THAT HE MIGHT BE REVEALED TO THE WORLD.

  • Question: Do you believe God wants to do miracles in your life?

Joshua 3:1-4  Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. 2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it…4. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it.”…

EXPERIENCING THE MIRACLE:  Vs 15-17 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Dead Sea was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

In this Tremendous Miracle we learn the 4 elements needed to Prepare for a Miracle:

A ______________________TO SEE IT:

Where are Your eyes?   40 years earlier Israel’s eyes were on Giants…Fear kept their eyes off God’s Plan of entering the Promised Land.

To have God’s Vision requires that we Trust God for it.  God gives us a vision, and then He takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of that vision. It is in the valley that so many of us give up and faint.

The vision that God gives is not some unattainable castle in the sky, but a vision of what God wants you to be down here.   Allow the Potter to put you on His wheel and whirl you around as He desires.

__________________________ TO GO FOR IT:

If you wait to Feel good about crossing your River Jordan…It will never happen.   Obedience is found in Trusting that God will Provide.

KEY:  Obedience is the root…Emotions are the Fruit!

__________________ TO BELIEVE IT:

  • Hebrews 11:6 says, Without Faith, it is Impossible to Please God.
  • Romans 10:17 Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God.
  • As you are in God’s Word…He Will Provide You the faith to Trust Him as You Cross Your Jordan River.

_______________________ TO DO IT

TRUSTING GODS PLAN:  Webster says Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one.

  • There will always be Obstacle’s to Experiencing a Miracle! That is why Trusting God…Seeing Him bring us through those adversities increases our faith and builds our courage.

True Story: A small congregation in Colorado built a new sanctuary on a piece of land willed to them by a church member. Ten days before the new church was to open, the local building inspector informed the pastor that the parking lot was inadequate for their size of building. Until the church doubled the size of the parking lot, they would not be able to use the new sanctuary.  Unfortunately, the church had used every inch of their land except for the mountain against which it had been built. To build more parking spaces, the mountain out of the back yard would have to be moved.

Undaunted, the pastor announced the next Sunday evening he would meet with all members who had “mountain moving faith to pray and ask God to remove the mountain from the back yard and to provide enough money to have it paved and painted before the scheduled opening dedication.

24 of the congregation’s 300 members assembled for prayer. They prayed for nearly three hours. At ten o’clock the pastor said the final “amen.” And he assured everyone, “We’ll open next Sunday as scheduled,”. “God has never let us down before, and I believe He will be faithful this time too.”

The next morning as he was working in his study there came a loud knock at his door. In came a big rough looking construction foreman, removing his hard hat he said. “Excuse me, Reverend. I’m with a Construction Company over in the next county. We’re building a huge new shopping mall over there and we need some fill dirt. Would you be willing to sell us a chunk of that mountain behind the church? We’ll pay you for the dirt we remove and pave all the exposed area free of charge.

The little church was dedicated the next Sunday as originally planned and there were far more members with “mountain moving faith” on opening Sunday than there had been the previous week! Would you have shown up for that prayer meeting?

Closing Question: “What Jordon River is God asking You to Cross?”

  • For or with what does God want you to Trust Him this Morning?

POINT: Faith Doesn’t Come from Miracles…MIRACLES COME FROM FAITH!
